Her Name Was Moviola
Invented in 1922, the Moviola remained for a long time the dominant machine for editing film in English-language cinema. Mastering it allowed an editor, in tandem with the director and producer, to create a language and rhythm within a film. Her Name Was Moviola sees Academy Award®-winning sound and film editor Walter Murch working with a team to rebuild a Moviola editing suite, taking us through the process of how a film was pieced together. Using two scenes from Mike Leigh’s 2014 drama Mr. Turner – reverse-engineered from digital to 35mm prints – Murch and his collaborators guide us through the way the Moviola was employed to bring a multitude of individual shots together into one cohesive narrative. It’s a riveting deep dive into a process that is key to every form of filmmaking.
Mario Puzo's The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone
Leikstjórinn/handritshöfundurinn Francis Ford Coppola setur sannarlega sitt mark á klippingu og endurreisn lokamyndarinnar í hinum epíska þríleik Godfather - Mario Puzo's The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), nú á sjötugsaldri, reynir að frelsa fjölskyldu sína frá glæpum og finna hentugan arftaka að veldi hans. Þessi arftaki gæti verið hinn blóðheiti Vincent (Andy Garcia)... en hann gæti líka verið neistinn sem breytir vonum Michaels um lögmæti rekstrarins yfir í vítiseld mafíuofbeldis. Vandlega endurunnin mynd og hljóð í þessari kvikmynd, undir stjórn American Zoetrope og Paramount Pictures, inniheldur nýtt upphaf og nýjan endi, sem og breytingar á atriðum, skotum og tónlist. Niðurstaðan endurspeglar upphafleg áform höfundarins Marios Puzo og Coppolas fyrir The Godfather: Part III og skilar, með orðum Coppolas, "meira viðeigandi niðurstöðu fyrir The Godfather og The Godfather: Part II".
Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound

Few have “ears to hear” the emotional storytelling impact sound plays in so-called visual media. Francis Ford Coppola and Lucas both declare, “Sound is half the movie!” Spielberg says, “Our ears lead our eyes to where the story lives.” Audiences will discover unsung artists and key sound creatives - Walter Murch (Apocalypse Now), Ben Burtt (Star Wars), Gary Rydstrom (Saving Private Ryan), Lora Hirschberg (Inception), Cece Hall (Top Gun), Anna Behlmer (Braveheart) – who create magic for all the movies we love.
