Shirley (Vilma Santos) is a woman who wants to be in control of everything. But in her family, her unwarranted intervention in her children’s lives and families keeps her emotionally detached from them. Realizing that she has lost the command she once had, she goes to New York to reunite with Mark (Luis Manzano), her estranged gay son. But Shirley doesn’t know that he is living with his partner Noli (John Lloyd Cruz), an illegal immigrant. Noel tries his best to endure Shirley’s degrading behavior towards him while maintaining his relationship with Mark. Shirley must now not only face the challenges of living abroad but must also learn to gradually open up her heart to attain happiness.
Dekada '70 (The 1970s)
Despite their distinct differences, the Bartolomes are struggling to keep their family intact during the dark times of Martial Law. Amanda (Vilma Santos) is a mother of five children who is also trying to find her identity and purpose as a wife, a mother, and a woman. Julian (Christopher De Leon), Amanda's conventional and domineering husband, insists that Amanda observe her place as a woman in their family of boys. Jules (Piolo Pascual) is Amanda's eldest son who is in constant hiding for taking part in the militant struggle against the government. Eman (Marvin Agustin), on the other hand, is Amanda's quiet son who covertly writes against the current administration. The playful Gani (Carlos Agassi), meanwhile, enlists with the US military. Bingo (John W. Sace) is too young to understand it all. And Jason (Danilo Barrios), Amanda's adventurous son, is caught by corrupt police which leads to tragic consequences.

But Lea, Ojie, and Maya find themselves at crossroads when the fathers propose taking their respective kids with them. The Healing
Seth witnesses a miracle when her wheelchair-bound father Odong is healed by Manang Elsa, a faith healer. Because of this, Seth's neighbors, who suffer from different kinds of diseases, ask her to bring them to Manang Elsa. Cookie, the daughter of Seth's ex-husband, also begs to be brought to the faith healer in hopes her life-threatening kidney disease will be cured. Everyone receives miraculous results after their visit to Manang Elsa. But mysterious events start to happen as one by one, those who were healed by Manang Elsa end up getting killed or committing suicide. Seth realizes that the same fate will befall Cookie. Feeling responsible for this turn of events, Seth desperately seeks ways to end the curse before it is too late.
