Set in 1971, when the winds of war were blowing between India and Pakistan, Raazi – an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel “Calling Sehmat” – is a true-life story involving a 20-year-old Kashmiri girl. Sehmat, a Delhi University student, is suddenly called back home to Kashmir by her parents. Her father Hidayat Khan, an influential businessman, has close ties with the Pakistani army. He has fixed Sehmat’s marriage with a Pakistani Brigadier's son. Hidayat Khan is also an asset for the Indian Intelligence and the real reason for Sehmat's marriage is a covert mission: Sehmat is to be sent as a spy into a Pakistani military family and source out all the information that she can get on Pakistan’s strategy in the impending war. Sehmat accepts her fate and is ready to do anything that is required for the country. Sehmat enters the new family and a new country on a mission for her motherland.
