In 1997 the snowboarding event Arctic Open was held for the first time in Tromsø. Legend has it that a local snowboarder made a spectacular jump and that a movie was in the making. But what really happened? This is the story behind the myth, about a group of Tromsø’s forgotten snowboard heroes, told in a heartfelt and enthusiastic way by the protagonists themselves. Thus, a film about a group of complete unknowns becomes proof that everything is possible, while at the same time being a melancholic reminder that nothing lasts forever.Richly told through archival video, photographs, VHS and super 8 footage, as well as new material shot over the last six years, THERE’S ALWAYS NEXT SEASON is a meta-documentary about not one film but two, both of which nearly never were. And though the love of snowboarding is at the heart of the film, this isn’t a sports film -- it’s a moving coming-of-age story about persistence, passion, friendship, the disappointments of aging, and what it truly takes to make sure your legacy isn’t forgotten.

Unbroken: The Snowboard Life of Mark McMorris
Canada’s Mark McMorris has defied the odds since he began his snowboarding career in 2009. Filmmaker, and childhood friend, Adam Burwell follows Mark every step of the way as he competes with the world’s best in Big Air and Slopestyle earning his spot on the Canadian Olympic team. Then on March 25, 2017, everything changes. With the competition season over, Mark explores the Whistler backcountry with his brother Craig, Torstein Horgmo, and friends. While cameras are rolling, the unthinkable happens - a horrific accident leaves Mark clinging to life with his brother and friends doing all they can to save him. After Mark wakes up in ICU, a battle to save his life becomes a battle to save his passion and career as a professional snowboarder with an uncertain future ahead of him. With intimate access, this 44-minute documentary shows 23-year old Mark McMorris at his most vulnerable and resilient as he battles to get back on his board and doing what he loves. Candid interviews with family, friends, and snowboarding legends tell the story of one of the sport’s most influential riders facing an existential crisis.

Shred Bots the Movie
Less like robots and more like “bro-bots”, this epic ensemble of Norwegian and Canadian riders are about to present you with a serious lesson in Kinematics: That’s android terminology for “the study of motion, as applied to robots”. Unfortunately, without an included owner or operator manual, the viewer will have to subject themselves to numerous viewings in order to apply these teachings to their own on-hill experimentations. Included, however, you will find a variety of street, park, and backcountry footage stretching from North America to Japan and Europe. Torstein, Mark, Stale and Craig will bring you beyond the lights, crowds, and podiums of the contest scene and into the backcountry, park and streets. Andreas will solidify his place as one of the best backcountry jumpers of all time, while newcomers like Anto Chamberland, and Brage Richenberg simultaneously break into the snowboard scene and demonstrate that they won’t be leaving it anytime soon.
