Perfect Strangers Live
1984 saw the long-awaited reunion of the classic Deep Purple Mark II line-up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice, for the first time since 1973. They recorded a brand new studio album, “Perfect Strangers” and headed out on tour. This show was filmed in Melbourne, Australia and is the only full length concert film of the band at this time. It’s a stunning concert with the band in incendiary form. Woman’. 2016 is the 45th anniversary both of the album’s release and of the death of Jim Morrison and this film goes into detail of how the album came about, its recording and what was happening to the band at the time. The story is told through interviews with the three then-surviving Doors: Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore plus contributions from Jac Holzman, founder of their label Elektra Records, Bill Siddons, who was their manager, Bruce Botnick, engineer and co-producer of the album and others associated with the Doors at this time.
