70 år gamle Frank sitter på psykiatrisk sykehus. Han får laget en film til sine to eks-kjærester fra 40 år tilbake, Lena og Barbara, i håp om å vinne en av dem tilbake. De to kvinnene møtes tilfeldig, og begge forstår at de ikke er den eneste Frank vil ha tilbake. De lover hevn, og reiser tilbake til fortiden med en tryllestav og en hagle, noe som får følger for filmen til Frank.

TONI GOLDWASCHER is an archaic story – in the mood of "Tom Sawyer". The story takes place a few years after the Second World War in a village near the river Inn. Behind the facade of an "idyllic world" there are old, unspoken feuds and rivalries. The hero of the story is 12 year old Toni, called "Toni Goldwasher", who lives with his mother Maria and dog Strupp in the "Goldwasher's House" outside the village close to the river.
