Note of Defiance
Filmed in early 2023, on the Ukrainian-Russian border, this short documentary explores two artists' use of their creativity and art as a means of cultural survival and defiance. In Kharkiv, Ukraine; attacks on civilian centres have forced cultural sites to close. The Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is one of the biggest cultural sites in the city forced to close due to these attacks. Two inspiring artists move continue to provide concerts and lessons anywhere they can; from parking garages to bomb shelters. Through powerful interviews, we learn of the unique challenges artists have faced during this conflict. From censorship and persecution, to displacement and trauma. The film concludes with emotional performance, where two disciplines of violin and dance are brought together in the theatre for the first time in nearly a year.
Ten and Two - Stept
Pack your bags and join the Stept crew as they continue the search for their American dream. These weathered nomads strive to find a balance between craziness and normalcy as their transnational adventure takes them from New England, to the Teton Mountains and back. The film’s narrator parallels tales from the past with the boys’ present day antics on and off the mountain.
Mutiny
In 2013 — after 12 years of producing ski films — Stept Productions embarked on its largest film project to date. Stept is proud to release its newest feature: Mutiny. The film documents young, progressive skiers as they commence on a mission around the United States; using the biggest cities in the country as their playground, the Stept crew sacrifices their health as they continue to redefine street skiing. Groundbreaking action, coupled with an award winning film crew brings a dark and mysterious story to light. Mutiny is intended for a mature audience and is dedicated to exposing the viewer to the raw and unfiltered world of the Stept crew.
The Eighty Six
Stept's 2012 ski film presents a migration from ski resorts, to cities, and back to the mountains. Everyone in the Stept crew skis, films, and works on the project together, sneaking from location to location, taking the term 'guerilla filmmaking' to new levels. Facing obstacles like broken cars, fires, law enforcement, competitions, water parks, parents and Denver Bronco's Security, they're able to consistently pick up, leave, and continue filming elsewhere. The Eighty Six. Riders include Clayton Vila, Sean Jordan, Cam Riley, Charlie Owens, Shea Flynn, Matt Walker, Parker White, Noah Albaladejo, Justin Norman, and many more.
