These men were some of the most barbaric and evil men who stood alongside Hitler and helped make all of his atrocities possible. Even with the dedication of many Allied forces to capture Nazis, many of Hitler’s men escaped Germany. As the Third Reich crumbled to pieces, thousands of Nazi officers and high-ranking party members fleed the continent and began searching for safety across the Atlantic. While some evaded arrest, many were brought to justice for their crimes against humanity. This is the story of the Most Wanted Nazis.

From his humble upbringing born to a blacksmith and a school teacher, to becoming the most powerful man in Italy, Mussolini’s life was tarred with violence and terror. Responsible for the death of up to 1 million people and the suffering of countless others, Mussolini is one of the most brutal dictators the world has ever seen.

This is Hitler Vs The Allies… In Colour. January 16th, 1945. Adolf Hitler’s world shrinks to a few concrete rooms underground. An air raid shelter, located near the Reich Chancellory in Berlin becomes the Fuhrer’s new residence. Knowing of his intentions to make this his home, the bunker is decorated with high quality furniture and expensive art taken from the Reich Chancellory itself. The bunker complex was entirely self contained, however as it was below the water table, the conditions were unpleasantly damp. Adolf Hitler and his closest associates decide the time has come to retreat underground, controlling the country from below. Josef Goebbels and his family also make the decision to move below ground to be alongside their beloved Fuhrer.

Austria 1889. Born into a devout Roman Catholic family, Adolf Hitler had a troubled childhood. An intelligent boy with no interest in school, Hitler is a disappointment to his father, who becomes increasingly violent. Indoctrinated within his childhood home from an early age, Hitler’s father beats him to enforce the ideals that strength and brutality mean domination, a belief Hitler himself will encourage later on in life. From his high school years in Linz, a young impressionable Adolf becomes inspired by his history teacher. A man infatuated with the idea of German Nationalism. This gives Hitler a new found purpose, and a set of principles he will maintain throughout his life.

The First World War was a catastrophe for Germany. Huge casualties affected morale, shortages and starvation plagued the home front, and on November 9th 1918, after a series of mutinies by German sailors and soldiers, the Kaiser had abdicated and fled the country. The following day, a provisional government was announced, made up of members of the Social Democratic Party and the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany, shifting power from the military. With peace declared and the Kaiser gone, Germany needed to establish a new constitution that would move the country forward after accepting responsibility for World War One.

The dramatic battle between Hitler and the Allies played out across every continent. This exciting series looks back across some of the most defining moments of WWII brought to a whole new life now in colour. The Russians moved steadily from the east whilst the western allies crossed the Rhineland, and by April, the Soviet troops, three million strong, dealt brutal blows to the last traces of the German resistance. With the Russians at the gates to Berlin, Adolf Hitler had nowhere to run, and on April 30th, he committed suicide in his bunker, as the city at the heart of his thousand-year Reich burnt to the ground and crumbled in ruins around him. Effectively, the war in Europe was over, and after the official surrender on May 7th 1945, the allies celebrated in style. Hitler’s war was finally over.

The London Charter for the Nuremberg Trials, held in August 1945, saw the allied countries agree on a trial and tribunal court system in which each country would have a judge present. They decided on three significant charges that the Nazi officials would face. The trial was set to put the horrors of the Nazi Regime on display for the world to see. However, three of the most wanted Nazis had already escaped. Rudolf Höss. Adolf Eichmann. Josef Mengele. Three men who committed some of the worst crimes under the regime were now being hunted.
