Livet går ikke alltid etter planen. Pat Solatano har mistet alt – huset, jobben og kona. Etter å ha tilbragt åtte måneder på en institusjon flytter han inn hos mor og far igjen. Pat er fast bestemt på å gjenoppbygge livet sitt, være positiv og gjenforenes med sin kone, til tross for et vanskelig brudd. Derfor kompliseres situasjonen ytterligere da Pat møter Tiffany, en mystisk jente med sine egne problemer. Tiffany tilbyr seg å hjelpe Pat å finne tilbake til kona, men bare hvis han vil gjøre noe veldig viktig for henne i retur. Og etter hvert som begge jobber hardt for å holde det de har lovet knyttes det et bånd mellom dem. Snart tør de begge håpe på en lysere tilværelse.
