Hendrix, arguably the most influential guitarist in the history of rock 'n' roll, is shown in rare performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage including such legendary songs as "Purple Haze," "Little Wing," and "Foxy Lady." Hendrix's all-too-brief career was cut short by a fatal overdose at the age of 27 in 1970. But for three years -- including his blistering (and some said controversial) performance of "The Star Spangled Banner," which closed 1969's Woodstock Festival -- Hendrix amassed a body of work that reshaped rock music. The story takes in CND marches in the early sixties, the foundation of the London Free School and from that the International Times, the UFO Club and the Notting Hill Carnival.
