I 1978, i den avsidesliggende fjellandsbyen Zalava, er landsbyboere livredde for en usynlig fare. De hevder at en demon hjemsøker landsbyen deres og har ansatt en eksorsist for å drive bort ånden. Når den unge sersjanten Massoud anholder eksorsisten for svindel, utarter situasjonen seg fra landsbyboernes skrekk og sinne. Snart befinner Massoud seg i et hjemsøkt hus med sin elskede der de er omringet av landsbyboerne som alle er overbevist om at demonen er i huset.

Afrooz is the captain of Iran's women's Futsal National Team. After eleven years of hard work, her dream becomes reality, she will be leading her team in the Women's Asia Cup Final. Upon going through security at the Tehran airport, she finds that her husband, a famous television host, has banned her from exiting the country. In Iran, a husband has the legal right to ban his wife from travelling abroad. Supported by her close friend and teammate, her only option is to persuade her estranged husband to let her leave the country, as well as fight the conservative and hypocritical ways of the Futsal federation. Based on real events, 'Permission' is the story of capable and distinguished women who keep on fighting, hoping to one day change the law for more gender equality.
