Produced by George Martin
“Produced By George Martin” is a feature length profile of Sir George Martin, Britain’s most celebrated record producer. The film talks about his childhood, his war experience and his early days as a music student. In the early fifties he joined EMI/Parlophone and started working on orchestral music, comedy records and music for children. Then in 1962 he signed The Beatles. Together George Martin and The Beatles revolutionized pop music and recording techniques forging probably the greatest producer / artist collaboration there will ever be. The film is in an intimate portrait of George Martin at home and at work. It features numerous classic clips of the artists he has produced and new interviews with many of them including Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Michael Palin, Jeff Beck, Rolf Harris, Cilla Black, Millicent Martin and Bernard Cribbins.
Music For Montserrat
The Music For Montserrat concert was the brainchild of Sir George Martin in response to the plight of the people of Montserrat following a volcanic eruption on the island. The concert was held at the Royal Albert Hall on September 15th 1997 and Sir George Martin pulled together a stellar line up of artists including Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. The artists gave the project their wholehearted support and produced some truly magical collaborations on the night. The Soufrière Hills volcano on Montserrat is still in an eruption phase and many of the population have been evacuated from their homes to safer areas of the island. The fall off in tourist travel has decimated the local economy.

Rolling Stone magazine even ranked him number 11 on their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”, and he is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. With interviews with George Martin and one of Harrison's school friends, this documentary will delve into his life - from his rise to fame, to his struggles with the law, and finally to his brutal stabbing and tragic struggle with cancer.
