Marilen (Maricel Soriano) and Santi (Edu Manzano) feel that their chances of having a child grow slimmer with each miscarriage, so they resorted to adopt a baby girl whom they raised and cherished as their own daughter. Years pass before the couple is blessed with a baby of their own. Issa (Angelica Panganiban), the adopted girl, finds it an ordeal to adjust from being the center of the family to being an outsider whom everyone expects to do everything wrong. While Marilen's affection for Issa remains unchanged, Santi believes that his child will never be safe unless Issa steps out of the house.
