The story starts when PK (Aamir Khan) loses his 'property', without which he is left homeless in an unknown desert. Devastated by this incident, he goes in search of the man responsible for this, without even knowing any details of him. While people advise him to take the help of God, PK to sets out in search of 'God'. Gradually, he realizes that God isn't a 'single person' as there are different Gods and to reach him there are his 'messengers' (read 'Godmen'). That's when he comes across Tapasvi (Saurabh Shukla), who fools people by stating that he has proof of God's existence.
